Καλημέρα όλους! Γράφει από Καρδαμενα

To English.

Hey! So as promised the other day I’ll post up a lil sketch I did on my travels. This is one done in the Greek party town on Kos of Kardamena.

Flower sketch

Kardamena was nice, a little cringey around the edges, but fun! It was one of the day excursions we went on. The place was surprisingly much less lively than expected. Though having said that, the state of Greece’s economy may explain this sadly.

I do hope they recover from this in the not too long future. I love Greece and their people. I feel so at home whenever I am there!

Till next time!

Freitag! I’ve come to an end but at least I tried

So here we are.

First working week of my new blog done.

What’s more, it’s the weekend.

Recently I’ve been avoiding contact with humans during weekdays. I just don’t have time for them other than a few select people. Besides, all the people at work kind of bore me. I mean most of them get irrationally excited about stupid shit. At least in my opinion. Oh well not here for that much longer. Im leaving early August. Then I should be going back to university in September.

Well, there is one guy who I can actually have a conversation about non-work related topics. I mean I can talk to him about music and art and the likes. Which is great as I can do that pretty much endlessly. If only the workplace had a little leeway for casual talk. My boss just makes it completely awkward so I’ve basically shut off to everything apart from matters concerning the projects that I’m working on. This year has been a total drag, but hey!

So yeah I spent yesterday lunchtime sitting under a tree in the park near the office sketching for about half an hour (whilst fighting the perils of hayfever), listening to the Singles Movie soundtrack. Which is great by the way if you have time for it. The movie is set in Seattle in the nineties. It’s a kind of romcom but contains cameos from various Seattle heroes such as members from Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam etc. yeah I’m a sucker for self deprecating alienated 90s music.

So yeah! Normally on Fridays a bunch of my colleagues (generally the younger ones) would go out for lunch. But to be honest I don’t have time for that. These people have nothing interesting to say. They talk about the weather, world geography, the theatre. I mean these things are ok, but there’s just no one who I can share my passion for art and music with.

I’ve tried and tried believe me. No one is eccentric or feeds off my eccentricity either.

I get a feeling this will be yet another day of me sat under that tree with my sketchbook out. I mean that’s not a problem I find my own company entertaining and love to be alone with my thoughts most of the time.

Anyway hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze a few hours into my artwork this weekend.

God it’s been a long time and I do have a few fresh ideas in the mix.

Dreaming about sweet Mary Jane

Last night I had a rather realistic dream of my day at work today.

The dream begun with my friend giving me some weed to look after for her. I’d stayed at her place the night before so went straight to work in the morning with the weed in my bag. Now I hadn’t smoked it at all but a series of events occured and early in the afternoon I accidentally clicked my lighter and for whatever reason there was a small amount that had previously fallen onto the lighter that was still there. This released a smell stronger than expected into the office.

< Just for some context, my place of work is an architectural office in London where most people are pretty much over the age of 50 and pretty straight laced. So no nonsense to ‘drugs’ despite the fact that marijuana is much less damaging than alchohol (don’t take my word for it, but I can say for sure that in terms of deaths, noone has ever died from having ‘too much’ marijuana, it just can’t be done) The way I see it anyway is that everyone spends a whole day at the office binging on caffeine. Caffeine is a necessity for me, I’d never choose to have it. If only I’d got a bit more sleep at night and didn’t find work so laborious. Anyway, back to the dream now >

I can’t remember exactly who, but someone reported this strange smell, I think it was a secretary (non-existant in reality, but nevermind, maybe she’s new) and next thing I know everyone is queued up by the kitchen being searched by the secretary. At this point I was completely freaking out that I’d get caught with what was on me.

What’s more, I was a fool and I took my bag with me to the search. I do tend to sling my back onto my back when I go out for lunch in a similar fashion. It was possibly my subconscious saying

“Grab your things, this is the end for you!”

Ultimately the search ended in her not finding what she was looking for. I mean it was in the bag in a side pouch and there was just under half an ounce, so I have no idea how I got through that.

When back at our desks, my boss, who I’ll call Gerard for purposes of anonymity, returned to the office from a meeting. The fascistic man heard the news of the issue previously being dealt with and decided to persevere with the search. He asked around “who here is most likely to be taking drugs” and I did hear a few whispers saying not sure, probably Steph. I mean come on! Who f*cking does that?!

Anyway he came over to me and hoisted the bag onto my desk and started with his search.

“You do realise Steph that I’m going to have to fire you now”

Busted.

That was it. I mean there was a whole section of the dream where it sunk in that I couldn’t complete my university course now, because I hadn’t got quite a long enough period of experience. Also the fact that the tuition fees would be unaffordable for me if I were to delay to the following September.

Anyway, please note that the above writing is essentially fictional so don’t get all freaky on me. I was just hoping to entertain you all with my dream last night.

I won’t be posting dreams up all the time, just when they are particularly realistic or peculiar.

Right.

This is my blog for my art and music obsession, so I’ll now make up the ramble to you by showing you some of my work that you can easily get hold of as a print or printed on a variety of products at my society6 store:

Please also see my facebook, where you’ll get updates when I upload something new to the store, or any other ventures I’m partaking in:

Below is one of my latest pieces of mixed media work called “Torment” that seems to be fairly popular compared to other works on my society6.

Love for those that appreciate.

Space PODs and Societies of Six

Hey!

As promised two days ago when I made my first blog post I will show you the online base for all my work, where you can buy my designs as a straight forward art print or printed onto a variety of selected products, such as mugs, phone cases, tote bags, cushions, clocks and even tapestries?!

Yeah, that one surprised me too, pretty cool! Then again there are also things like leggings and I think shower curtains as well, neither of which I’ve done yet.

Instantgaram Art Society6

But yeah that’s society6, essentially the middle person when it comes to selling your designs as prints so you don’t have to put the effort or expense into it. Also I’m sure their quality is much better than I could achieve anyway. They are categorised as a p.o.d. website. This means point of distribution and includes the likes of redbubble, zazzle, printalloverme, artrookie, cafepress etcetera..

It takes forever and a hundred years to get up just one piece of work and upload all the very specifically dimensioned versions of it for the range of products. I’m very impatient though, I’m sure you’ll soon come to see. I can’t hack waiting around. This is one reason why I am sticking to just one p.o.d. For now at least.

Anyway, it is worth the wait as when you see the previews of your work on these products it’s satisfying and even more satisfying when people purchase something from the store.

So, check my page out in the link above somewhere and feel free to look around the site in general of course. It’s not only a great way to support independent artists but also there are some really great designs out there.

I think people should drop the whole online shopping from major shops and fashion lines shtick for this kind of thing.

Anyway, work today, time to shift some lines and dimension structural openings. Woe is me! I’m going to need a coffee..
